I wasnt sure where to go with the topic so for now, it's here.

yes i know it sounds like an odd comparison but let me explain.

I have been planning to replace my 9mm for a few years now. I had let one go a while back with intentions to upgrade and never have. My decision has come down to the G34 or the G17...the only thing keeping me from the G34 is the price difference and trigger pull.

The SECOND dilemma comes into play where I am awaiting the results of the South Dakota resident Prairie Elk drawing. If i do draw a tag, I would like to have my own Elk gun rather than borrow from my father. The plan would be to run the Oly Arms 300OSSM upper for my AR because I already have lots of brass and will reload anyway. (the 7mmWSSM from Dtech was 1st choice but wait time is unreal)

Please give me pros/cons for the decision. As i have said...as of now, my decision rests on weather or not I draw an Elk tag. If i DO, the AR upper is in the future. If not, I would need talked out of a Glock.

G34/G17
Lone Wolf Threaded Barrel
Advantage Arms 22LR conversion w/ threaded barrel
YHM 9mm Cobra

Burris XTR 30mm X-High rings

My recommendation would be to hold off on the 300 OSSM. I have one and I can't get it to shoot worth a damn with factory ammo. I am waiting on reloading dies from Hornady, but the wait is likely to be a couple more months yet. I suspect that I will be able to find a load that it likes, but for now I am pretty disappointed.

You can't go wrong with either the G34 or G17. I had G34, but someone needed it to teach a class. I picked up right where I left off when I got my G17. I actually demo'd the Cobra on it. I would recommend going with the SWR Trident instead. If you would like a Cobra that has about 200 rounds threw it, we have one instock as well.

no one else offers dies for this cartridge, with a shorter wait time??? just wonderin.

Not that I have heard, HSM is the only one making this ammo commercially right now and (the innitial word was Hornaday was making the dies.) Ammo was just released a couple months ago which is why the rifle wasnt available sooner. (no one woulda had boolits to shoot)

I HEARD dies were going to be ready when the ammo was ready but you know how that stuff goes. yada yada yada

well, didnt draw an elk tag, so looks like a Glock is in my future.
