Any of you shooting the combo? I just starting playing with it this week and it is showing good accuracy so far. No chrony results yet.

ANy of you have any data to share? HOPEFULLY with 185-190gr bullets.

Re: 300WSM and RE17

I'd really like to hear how this powder performs for you. I shoot 185 Berger hunting VLD's and 190 Sierra Matchkings out of my 300WSM.

I'm not using Rx17 in the 300WSM, but I am using Rx25. I started out with 19 and 22 but it seemed like both of these powders produced excessive copper fouling in my barrel. Not to mention accuracy with match and hunting bullets wasn't spectacular.

SO, being frustrated I switched to Rx25 for shits & grins and was very pleased. Copper fouling was eliminated and accuracy was great. The rifle now shoots .3-.4" five shot groups at 100 yards 90% of the time. I contribute the other 10% of the groups to operator error.

I hope you find this info helpful and good luck!

Was this a new gun? I have found 19 to be a very good powder for the 300 wsm...

Re: 300WSM and RE17

Chris,

Just last week I was load testing my 300 WSM FN SPR 26" Rock 11 twist using RL17.

185 Berger VLD
RL17 64.5 grains
CCI mag primer

3,113
3,116
3,110

Talk about a good ES. Accuracy was .6 @ 100

190 Berger VLD
RL17 64.0 grains
Win primer

2,993
2,975
2,985

64.5 grains

3,096
3,048
3,009

Alliant recommends 66 grains as max for 180 grain bullets.

You could easily bump up the 190 load to over 3,000.

as a side note,

208 AMaxs
using 7828 SCC 67.5 grains
Rem Primer

2,853
2,826
2,799

Not a great ES but at 100 they all went down the same hole.

Yes, this was a new custom build I got about two months ago. Don't get me wrong, 19 and 22 are good powders for the 300WSM. I just felt like the gun had more to offer than what I got with 19 and 22. Following my gut really paid off!

Re: 300WSM and RE17

Guys the best load I have came up with is 65.2grs of '17, Win brass, BR2, 185 Bergers. This is a factory 26" Rem tube. It is shooting in the 2"-2.25" @300. I have some '25 and may try it just for the hell of it.

Re: 300WSM and RE17

I have began some testing RL17 in 300wsm. I used wlrm primers & winchester brass.180 accubonds Using 65.5 grs I got an av of 3150 with an es of 11. Using 66grs I got an av of 3168 with an es of 26. Next step is to shoot some groups. These loads beat my current loads by over 100fps with absolutely no signs of pressure.
