Pondering a 300WSM in a CDG long action, or other LA, possibly short barrel. Just wondering about throat depth and/or twist for same. Searching the SH brain trust.
300WSM in CDG Long action, or other long actions? Possibly short barrel?

I have a 1:10 twist on my 20" PVA 300wsm barrel. It shoots everything from 130 up to 220 with laser accuracy. On a BHO short action. I have been considering moving to 300 rsaum when this barrel is shot out (2022 rds at the moment) since it has a better shoulder angle and feeds more reliably. Once in a while (not consistantly) I get a round that will hang up when feeding.
Similar performance,less powder. I have read some old posts saying heavier bullets loaded beyond short action lengths perform really well. I was hoping for responses from the people that were doing it 14 years ago might chime in. I have a 284 Winchester in la working very nicely.
I’m not dead set on anything. I just have a short and long action staring at me. I am also considering la cartridges. I’m really wide open to any and all suggestions. I don’t really want a belted anything.
