.308 168 AMAX and Vihtavuori Powders?

Anyone using this combo? I want to save whats left of my Varget for the 175 SMK's, so I'm thinking of using Vhita for the 168 AMAX's.

Not sure which one to go with though, N140 or N150. I've read a few other people here are using N150 as a Varget replacement.

Can't speak for N140 but I've used N150 quite a bit in 308. The velocity was not on par with say Varget or W748 but my ES usually ran around 15-20fps in my bench 308. The powder provided extreme accuracy in several different 308 guns over the years.

BTW, this was with 168 AMAX and 168 VLD bullets.

Chris,

N-150 or N-550 will work with them. Use WLR primers for more consistent results.

I'm loading 42.5gr of VV150 with 168 AMAX - Federal primer - Nosler Custom C brass - AOL 2.880 out of Police 700 - with good results

+1 a big +1 same load with Lapua brass odd enough with mine its the same charge for 178 A-Max

I shoot Vit 140 44.5 grains behind a 165 sierra 2140 for 2705 fps out of a 24'' barrel. Consistently good for me. Effective on deer and other animals.
