Im not set up for reloading yet (hopefully this year) but I need to get some good 308 ammo. Whats a good factory 175gr 308 to get? How is Prime or Desert tech? The barrel is a JP 20" match, all JP internals on a mega maten reciever set.

I have never had an issue with Federal GMM shooting SMK’s. As stated before, for 800 yds or less, the 168’s are very accurate, and for longer distances, the 175’s. I have shot 1000’s of rounds of Federal GMM from my DD .308 as well as an Archer .308 using a Lilja barrel.

I'd highly recommend Prime if you what to go the distance, its about $1.50ish a pop vs. the $1.25 you'll pay for FGMM but it's launching a RUAG 175 grain with a B.C. of 0.547 which is a decent gain over what you'll get out of the 168 or 175 SMKs. While it tends to runs a little slower than other commercial loads, the SD's are 9-12 FPS out of a variety of guns. Accuracy is superb, FGMM may have a slight edge inside of 400-600m but after that the higher B.C. wins out. If ypu are going to stay inside 600m then the FGMM 168 SMKs should be all you need. beyond that the 175 SMKs will work but again the Prime has a solid edge over the FGMM at that point.
