After much debate I have recently ordered a TRG22 and I've decided to put a brake on it verses a can. I'm looking for some input on what brakes you guy have and why you like or dislike them. I was leaning towards a Roedale but truthfully I'm open to anything. Thanks in advance gentlemen.

Re: 308 Brake Options

Why not the get Sako brake?

I have a Near on my TRG42, and it mitigates recoil very well, while at the same time not producing a ridiculous blast. I like it.

My partner has the APA little bastard on his 308. It works very well, but is aptly named. It is a bastard. When behind the rifle, it has a serious concussion/blast, but you get used to it. What you don't get used to however, is being set up alongside one. It is obnoxious, and blows spent Varget up your sinuses at 250mph. It blows your hat off your head, it shakes your cheeks...you get the picture.

Re: 308 Brake Options

If you ever intend on shooting fclass or with a silencer go with a removable brake. I am going to use the RAD Rapid brake on my new rifle.

If not, I currently have a badger thruster and its pretty loud to watchers, but pretty good at taming recoil. Ive never used the APA brake but the videos out with it are impressive.

Re: 308 Brake Options

I just got an APA LB on a 308. Had to get it threaded for a can and got the brake for a thread protector. Also have an SEI, it reduces accuracy along with the recoil.

The APA reduces the recoil more than the SEI, does not loose accuracy, but at the same time it will rattle the tin over your head at the range.

I have heard from a few different people that the Sako brake was not as effective as some others out there. Now these fellows were shooting TRG42's where as I'm going to have the 308. Perhaps with the larger calibers the the Sako is not as effective..

Re: 308 Brake Options

The SAS brake is the best I have ever used. It makes my 300 win loads so tame you can literally shoot it till you run out of ammo. I think mile high shooting sells them and is a site sponser.
