So far this year my wife has killed a mature mule deer buck at 565 yards and a doe at 395 yards. I shot a couple hogs at 200 yards or so this spring. All were one shot kills with a .308 using 150gn Hornady SST bullets.
I personally hunt with 150g barnes ttsx pills, that said, Any .308 ammo will kill a deer or hog if placed in a vital area. I personally know someone who regularly kills large pigs and deer with "inadequate" .223 ammo and have seen him drop a 280lbs hog at 200+ yards...regardless what you hear, a hog is not made of antimantium!
