I'm new to long range shooting. I shoot pistols and have reloaded for 9mm and Ar platform cartridges. I bought a Remington ltr 308 a few weeks ago. It has a 20 inch barrel and a 1 in 12 twist. The thing shoots some very good groups with 147 pmc. Just wandering if anybody out there has a starting place for bullet selection. I realize that each gun is different but instead of buying a bunch of different bullets I thought you guys might be able to give me a good starting point. Range might eventually be 1000 but probably with in 600 for now. Target and hunting. Thanks in advance.

155 Scenars with some RE15, Varget, or IMR 4320 . They will do good for both hunting and steel and fly with very close BC as the 175 SMK.

168gr SMK with RE15 is a solid choice for 600yds. They have a 165gr Gameking that has the same POI for hunting too. Going beyond 600 the 175gr SMK is another one easy to load for and will get you to 1000.
