Bought a set of Redding Deluxe dies last week and I've set up the full length and seating dies to my load. I've got a small lot of brass that I've shot out of my rifle and I would like to try neck sizing. Turns out, Redding directions on setting up the die is about as detailed as blowing your nose. I've set it up, but after trimming the case, it seems like there is interference on the shoulder upon chambering (empty cases). I've never done neck sizing and I know the loads I'm using are max loads (185 Berger Juggernauts, 44.6 grains Varget). Will this interference cause a pressure spike? I'm not new to reloading, but I am when it comes to squeezing accuracy out of bolt actions.

A couple of questions and a bit of clarification to help understand what you are asking.

1. By full length die, I assume you are referring to the Redding die that decaps and sizes the body and neck in one operation without use of a bushing? In other words, it is NOT a bushing neck sizing die!

2. Is the interference you describe occurring before or after you have sized the cases?

3. You say you've trimmed the cases (is this for length?), and if so, were the cases body/full length sized prior to trimming?

With lapua brass right ray! Win and fed brass are much thinner, in the neighborhood of needing a 332 or less bushing in my experience. A 335 bushing used in my win brass and the projectile won't hold nearly firm enough.

You are correct sir...I almost forgot there are other brass manufacturers besides Lapua. Ray
