308 once fired case lenght shorter after firing

Re: 308 once fired case lenght shorter after firing

I just full lenght sized them and most came back to 2.000 and 2.010. they were my ladder test rounds so I thing maybe this has to do with the varied lenght? What is the minimum reloading case length? can i get away with loading them if they are under the 2.005 limit?

Yes, it should be safe to load them. When undergoing the first firing, the brass swells to fit the chamber and this causes the brass to shorten. If you neck size only, the brass will continue to grow from there.

If you FL size, the brass will lengthen when sized and shorten when fired while slowly growing overall.
