The other day I was at a firearms dealer's shop and saw a rifle just like the FN-AR, but with some kind of camo pattern on it. I thought it was made by Remington, but I can't seem to find that model on the Remington web site.

Does anyone know what the model designation is, and if it was made by Remington, or by someone else. Even the magazines looked like the FN-AR mags, but the rifle and mags were NOT made by FN. I know it wasn't made by FN because much of my discussion with the vendor was about the similarity between the FN and the rifle he was showing me.

Re: 308 semi auto similar to FN-AR

The Remington web site has an R-25 that is the 308 (and similar calibers) version of an AR-15.

I tried looking up SR-25 and it came up as the Knights armament company rifle.

The Remington web site didn't have anything come up when I put SR-25 in the search part of the web site. Do you have any links, or suggestions about how I could find out more?

I really appreciate the lead, but even my various search engines only kick back either the remington R-25, Knight's SR-25, no Remington SR-25...any other leads will be much appreciated.

My bad...it is the R-25.

I'm just so used to thinking SR25 as the model (military and all that related stuff) that it hit the keyboard before my brain

Yes, the Winchester SX-AR is the same as the FNAR (comes out the same factory, same parts etc.) I have one and it is a very nice gun. I also have an FNAR but like the new mossy oak break-up camo better.

Had one but quickly sold it. Horrid trigger and I found no easy way to fix it. I think the receiver was made from aluminum too and seemed to be a potential issue with regard to flex.

He can't be talking about the Winchester because the SX-AR and the FN-AR are the same gun. I am not a huge DPMS fan but they make fairly good guns for the money.

Umm if you are talking about the DPMS all AR type receivers are Aluminum (okay there are some exceptions but those are polymer) and the AR type trigger is the easiest thing to switch out especially if you go with a trigger pack like Timney. So either you didn't own one or you didn't do any research at all and shouldn't have owned one in the first place. If the later is the case why would you go out and spend a minimum of $1k without researching, talk about impulse buy and sell!!

On another note if you have any crappy aluminum guns laying around with crappy triggers I'll come by sometime and take them off your hands

The FNAR is very similar to the BAR as far as receiver and gas system. Although, the FNAR has a match grade chrome lined barrel and a better trigger than the BAR (I still had my trigger on my FNAR reworked). Plus the FNAR has a 1 MOA guarantee whereas most BAR's are not capable of MOA accuracy. The FNAR is a most understated weapon based on function and cost as long as one remembers its tactical role is limited.

Just to confirm... yes, the rifle you are asking abouf is the Winchester SX AR. I have one and it is essentially a FNAR, even stamped as being made kn Belgium by FN. It comes in a .308 chambering and the camo paint job and one less rail is the difference from the FNAR. I can say this rifle is absolutley capable of MOA. Mine loves 168 federal match...the Hornady A max doesn't produce for some odd reason. It shoot sub MOA at 300 but seems to lose it around the 400-450 yardage mark... I'm currently working on some loads with this rifle using IMR 8208XBR. Also FNAR mags do work... the extra 20 rounder mags I bought are stamped FN. I DO like this rifle.
