I am in the process of making sub sonic loads for my 308. I have been reading posts of all these guys using 9.? gns of trail boss, this is great but the case isn't but half full. From what I know, this isn't recommended for a consistant burn the case should be full. Soooo how do these guys do it? And still keep it suppressor friendly?

When I load subs, my gun likes around 10.3ish grains. Wind up around 1040 or so fps.
I have decent case fill.
A couple things you can do: Run as heavy a bullet your barrel will take. Seat your round fairly deep; dont chase the lands. Doing things like this and tweaking the load have gotten me consistent 1 minute loads. Usually under that, but hardly ever worse. I use mag primers as well. They seem to help with consistency, and tighten up the groups a bit YMMV.
I have heard of cotton being used for a filler, but I have not tried it. May have to some time, but I have been pretty happy how my subs have been running.
I assume the cotton would be totally gone before the round ever got down the barrel. Any other ideas on it?
Have you worked any sub loads for your rifle yet? I wager you will be 10.5ish grains, not 9. That bit makes a difference as TB is quite "fluffy."

I have made 10 to try some day If the weather ever clears up. I started at 9.9 and ended at 10.8 (two of each) hopfully i will find my magic number. Thanks for the help I am going to try the mag primers.

I use 10 gr Unique with no filler on 100 gr hornady plinker.
works great in 30/30 and 308 bolt. Don't know about a gas gun.

Remember to work DOWN not up lol. Easy to get mixed up from regular loading and do that by habit. Work with the can ofF as well just to be safe.
Havent tried, but pretty sure you will be single loading your gas gun with loads like this.

I'm sure you already know this, but make sure you test your loads without the can on first. Make sure they're fully stabilizing before putting your can on, or you might just end up with a really expensive paperweight.
