i am thinking of a new build. right now i have a rem 700 5r shooting 175 SMKs at 2700fps. i read that it is hard to get the creedmoor to 3000 with a 140. just wondering what the added benefits would be with a creedmoor.

I was getting 2850fps out of my Creedmoor with the 140 amax. Very accurate round and good BC. It all depends on what your trying to achieve.

After getting my butt whooped in windy Oklahoma I made the switch from .308 to 6.5 CM I've not get a chance to strech it's legs, but I just got the rifle back on Friday. I took it out to get sighted in and was very impressed with the results.
It's a slick round that really cheats the wind and has a longer reach than 308
5shot group.

You don't need 3000fps. 2850 in a 6.5 will do great.
I had my Remington 5R re-barreled into a .260 and couldn't be happier.

there is a barreled action on the hide for $1100 right now. i was planning on starting with it. would i be farther ahead to rebarrel my 5r or get the barreled action. i kinda hate to not have a 308 sitting around.
what about 6.5 vs a 7mm? im trying to narrow it down and build a target/ hunting rig. mainly whitetail but hopefully soon a mule deer. im a bow hunter and the mathews doesnt usually let the rifle get a chance so its going to be more a target gun.
