308 win 208 Amax help

I started at 46 grs and loaded 3 rounds up to 49 in half grains increments. Finding most people find the node bout 48.5. Shoot all groups with no chrono cause a buddy had it while paper testing. 49 grains was a true one hole group. I loaded up 20 more then went a picked up the chrono . Next range trip averaged 2180. Forgot about it for a year went back out today texted again still 2180 ish three shots . Should I seat the bullet deeper to see if it picks up speed ? Was mad and left target hanging at the range today so I didn't measure it.

Its not the choro checked it against other known loads and it checked out fine today.

Seating the bullets deeper is not going to pick up your velocity. If you want more speed you are going to have to put more powder in it. I doubt a 20" barrel is going to optimum for getting the most out of a 308 with heavy bullets and slow powder.

I tried it when it was being discussed here years ago. My issue was not being able to find a good load that would mag feed. First attempt I set seating depth based off distance to rifling and checked one rd in the mag. It fit because the bullet tip was in the feed ramp and looked promising. After adjusting seat depth to allow full mag feed, I was not able to get anything worth pursuing. Based on that, I suspect seating as long as possible to allow more case capacity would be a better route. JMHO.

Went back to the range with H335 and cfe223 loaded at 2.850"

All loads with H335 looked like buck shot at 100 yards.

43.5 group was around .75 . No presure signs gonna try 44 44.2 and 44.5.
