338 Lapua Magnum

Has anyone here loaded the 270gr ELD-X with N565? doesn't seem to be any data online for this combo. Vihtavouri website has data for 250 and 300gr but no 270.
Vihtavouri has min 80.4grs to max 90.3grs for the 250 scenar and min 77.2grs to max 84.9grs for the 300 scenar.

Should I just split the difference and start around 78.5grs with the 270? Onviously I plan to work up slowly to find pressure.

Loading for a Desert Tech SRS 26" 1:10tw barrel

N565 is good for that mass range of bullet.

Here's a QL prediction...

Starting load development for a DT SRS M2 26" 338LM and looking for a reality check. I have N570 and 285gr ELD-M with CCI 250, starting with .020 jump.
Planning on 92.9, 93.3, 93.7, 94.1 and 94.5 to start. Anyone with some experience that can let me know if I'm in a good place to begin?

I agree with Dogtown. 92+ grain is kinda high to start. Im at 90.0 gn of N570 with 300 grain Atip and 285 eld. Im also running a 30” barrel
I found good SDs from 91.0 to 92.3, will check that range again after barrel break in and pick something.

91.7 @2838 is best so far, 26"

I'm using 285 ELDM and get .5 to .7 MOA without any fine tuning yet.

I'm trying to help a friend out with reloading some 338LM with 300 A-Tips. I don't run this caliber so I'm hoping for a little time saving help.
He has a 30" 1:9.3 twist barrel and is getting 2700fps with 85.3g of N570. This seems like a very light charge weight. The pill touches lands at 3.855"
Can anyone offer a good target speed to work to? I run my 250 A-tips to 2850(30"PRC) and 390's to 2950(34"CT), so I was hoping to see 2800 for him.
We are going to an ELR range soon(White Oak) and I'd like to help get him set him up for success. Thanks for any consideration.

85gr of N570 is fairly mild in this case, but if it shoots well? With a 30” barrel and that load, getting to 2800fps should be pretty easy. Over the years shooting N570 with 300s, the sweet spot seemed to be between 89-92gr. I had a very good load using 92.7gr but it was really hard on the brass.

Super! You’re the man. How fast did that 92.7 get you?

Order a new barrel when you're done with load workup, cuz you're about 500 rounds till that one is finished with n570
Yes, I will suggest that to him, what would be your suggested powder and charge window?
I have 568, H50, retumbo, H1000, RL50, and he has about 3 pounds of 33(then its gone, which is why I'm trying to help him with a diff powder)

I used to push 300 grain SMK’s with red Tumbo I’m thinking about 91 grains but I long ago switched to the 285 ELD – M. Cheaper and faster.

I was only half kidding about in 570. It is a fine powder, lots of speed and consistency. But if you’re using it in a gun that you’re shooting a lot of rounds in, it will erode your throat and it will do it much faster then almost any other powder.

If it’s a hunting rifle or something, you only shoot 50 rounds a year then who cares.
