338 Norma loads

Anyone run retumbo in their 338 Norma ?

My Norma is currently being built, but the developer of this cartridge has told me he is beginning to lean towards Retumbo as the favored powder (using the 300gr. SMK).

Ran 89 gr of rimshot getting around 2680 average. Gonna try some vihtavuori n570 when I get some free time.

That's interesting that retumbo was working well in this application I figured if it was a little slow for the lapua it would be a little too slow for the norma but I guess that's why you gather actual data

I run 92gr Retumbo in my 338 lapua w 300 bergers shoots great. Just wondering if anyone has tried it in the Norma.

Doing Monolithic solids from ZA right now, but I am using H1000 and 7828ssc... the later only because of availability but my initial light load with it was around 2600fps with a 280gr bullet. I am going to move up from 79gr to 85gr of 7828ssc. With H1000 I am loaded hot from 90gr to 92gr which I do not recommend. The solids can handle hotter loads.

Powders have been a premium to find, I was hoping to have some RL33, many of the better choices are back ordered.

In my 338 Norma, I ran 87 to 88 grains with the Berger 300, Sierra 300, and Lapua Scenars. Also still experimenting with Rl33, up to 96 gr, with a 300 Berger, with good results. Ran into pressure signs with Retumbo at 88 grains, but not much for pressure signs with 95 Rl 33. Velocity seems higher than I expected with RL33, based on drop chart. Dont trust my chrono so haven't ran it over the screens yet.

Anyone run retumbo in their 338 Norma ?

Yes. I run Retumbo at 90.5gn for 250 Berger OTMs. Puts me right at 2900 according to an Oehler chronograph. 90.5 is stable for me in the desert and I took an antelope in August when it was hot with no problems. I have gone as high as 92 but was getting into pressure.
