Re: A "quiet" rifle build.

Ok so its going below 1100 FPS . What is the type and weight powder charge. Some one said they hunt coyotes with it ? Any pictures or stories of coyote stands with this caliber

I did however run a 30cal can on my SBR in 6.8 SPC. After one 30 round mag it was so hot that you couldnt haven even taken it off with gloves without melting them. I was just worried about the 9mm can in a similar scenario being that its not built to a 30cal cans specs and usually not as thick (in the tubes walls) could it get so hot that it deforms and causes failure to your rifle or can? Being that the baffles in the pistol can arent built like a 30cal can, would you get decreased life with rifle calibers?
</div></div>

My testing of 9mm suppressors on rifle calibers being fired in their standard supersonic form was done with the knowledge that certain concessions must be made. No more than 5 rounds could be fired in a row before the can was allowed to cool. There is more to it, feel free to call me--my cell is all over the net, but the testing was done for a specific purpose. And it is not destruction testing.

There is a huge different between the heat and pressures achieved with supersonic rifle rounds and subsonic rifle rounds. Effectively the 9mm suppressor will receive less wear and tear with subsonic .300 whisper and .338 calibers than it would on a 9mm MP5 running full tilt. Obviously certain 9mm designs are more tolerant. Stainless initial blast baffles being superior to a straight aluminum stack.

I've tested the .338 Spectre quite extensively. It's the same concept, launching a .338 projectile subsonic suppressed, it just also runs in a standard AR15 format.

Re: A "quiet" rifle build.

Good info you posted in this thread Aaron. Someones guess just doesn't have the same quality as the experience of someone who is doing what's being discussed.

Hey Bachelor Jack your PM's are full, wanted to know if anyone is using a powder other than IMR trail boss, if there is something better that would work in a magnum caliber or a filler that is recommended?
