375 Cheytac update question

Can someone give an update of this caliber.
I ran a search, but alot of the imformation was from <span style="font-weight: bold">2009.</span> I would like to get the latest imfo on barrel twists being used, bullets, and such. Also, what weight rifles are you guys building to handle the recoil effectively?

Published development on this cartridge seems to have fizzled out this year. I do not think anyone has any new "super" bullet out for this yet.

At this time, I feel the best combination is to go with is a 10 twist barrel. This will accommodate most all of the proven bullets out at this time. I am sure development behind the scenes is still clicking along and hopefully someone will finally tune the long exotic bullets!

FWIW, I currently run the old school 1:11.5 twist LRB barrel along with the 350 Jamison solids. It is a good 2600 yard rifle. After that, accuracy fades off. It is still stable to 3000 but the groups are not what I want to call home about. My rifle weighs 22 pounds and recoil is very mild. 50 rounds in a session is no problem.

my 375CT weighs about the same @ 22lbs. With an effective brake, the recoil is very manageable and is less than my previous 338edge with 5 port brake @ 17lbs.

As far as twist goes, i would opt for as tight a twist as you can that will still allow jacketed bullets to be used (so they dont come apart). Mine has 1:10 twist.

As far as bullets go, there are LOTS of new exotic solid projectiles in development right now. The faster twist barrel you have the better to be able to use these exotics however. Noel carlson is working on his that seem to require a superfast gaintwist with 5.5 exit twist. GSC seem to be working on something and trying to get it stabilize in a 1:8twist. Predator projectiles also has some new designs still being tested for a 1:10twist reported BC is 1.1+, and i have some other new designs in the pipeline, that should work from a 1:10twist, 380grn BC 1.3+...

So theres plenty happening just nothing 100% sorted yet... early next year i expect everything to pan out...

Thanks for your feedback, guys. I would prefer not going with a faster twist than 1:10, so we will wait and see alittle longer on bullet developement.

I was looking at the 375 CT also for a hunting gun this year and because of the bullet selection setteled on another calaber.....

I did Settle on the 338 Lapua, shot a buck at 400 yards with a nosler Accubond and it was nothing less than incredible, I have a friend that shoots one and has shot so much stuff from 400 to 900 yards and everything from Bucks to Elk and it has been a one shot kill
