I posted this over on the Creedmoor forum too, but I thought I'd post it here and do some shameless promoting for the matches at American International Marksmanship Academy down in Blakely Georgia. http://www.marksmanshipacademy.com/ Stan Ellis runs a fantastic match and the range at AIM is flat out amazing. I can't wait to shoot at some of the other ranges they offer... like their 2400 yard UKD range!

Took a couple buddies down to shoot the 3x600 match this past Sunday. We all shot f-class Open and had a great time. My factory Savage LRP in 6.5CM and I shot a 577-18x which was good enough for the win. I shot my homemade brass converted from .243win loaded with 139gr Lapua Scenars on top of 41.0gr of H4350. I guess my converted brass works nicely. This was my first time shooting it after fireforming. There were only 8 people shooting f-class so they ended up grouping FT/R and Open together. My buddy from the AMU secured 2nd with a Tubb gun in .260 and my other buddy had a great time despite shooting a hunting rifle topped with a 3-9 power scope.

Wind was switching 10-12mph with some 15mph gusts. I made all my wind calls based on mirage and it payed off in the end. I caught some wind switches that a lot of other folks missed. Looking forward to next month's 3x1000.

If any of you 'Bama, Georgia or Florida guys are looking for a place to shoot some f-class this is a great facility.

Trental,
Been there 3 times myself. Fantastic range and Stan runs a smooth shoot. If work does not get in the way I plan on shooting this upcoming 1000 yarder, may shoot both days. If I make it I'll see you there and meet you.

HighRez,
I'll see you there also. The dates on the next 1000 yarders are Oct. 6th and 7th. It is posted to start at 9a.m. but Stan has been trying to start at 8 a.m. because of the heat. If I hear otherwise, I'll post it here. Last month some boys from over near Pearson were coming up and would have been late had we not told others and they made a call to them. It was on the calender for 8a.m. starting time, but Oct. is set for 9 a.m. I've seen this in the past so the time is a little questionalble.

Thanks Don. I'm going to try to make the 600 yarder on the 28th. I'll call in advance for the start time. Hope to see you there.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

I'm planning on making it to the 1000 yarder on the 6th, but I'm not sure about the 600yard match on the 28th. There is a metallic silhouette match on that same day. I hate having to choose between matches.

We started this last 3x600 at 9am. I'm glad they did too cause we got there at the last minute. Misjudged our travel time.

Don, hopefully I'll see you at the 1000yd match. Bob if I decide to shoot on the 28th I'll see you then.

I'm the guy shooting an out of the box Savage LRP with a 10-50x60 Sightron screwed on top of it.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

My bullet order did not come in till Friday. With work and such I'm not sure now if I'll have time to build a new load and get sighted before this upcoming weekend.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

I've got to check and see if I'll be back from our little family Turkey day vacation for that match. Would love to shoot with ya.

Got my ammo all loaded up and ready for this Saturday's 3x1000 down at AIM. Right now the weather looks like a perfect sunny 85 degree day.

Not a dumb question at all. Seems every range is a little different.

For the 600yd match you get two sighters per string, and it is 20 shots for record in each string. So you are looking at 66 rounds.

At the 3x1000yd matches you get unlimited sighters. Today I shot 80.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

Weather was awesome!! The scores are up on AIM's website. I ended up with a 517-9x which I think is pretty good considering some of my bullets were coming in sideways!

Grrrrrrrrr!

Shit, you're right! I am looking at this all wrong!

Don't tempt me. I have a pile of 140Amax.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

Looks like AIM is rebuilding their website at the moment so their calendar isn't up right now.

There is a 3x600 match this Sunday (Oct 28th) if anyone is interested in shooting.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

Their website is in transition right now as they divide AIM into two entities. They usually have a nice schedule on their website but it seems to be disabled right now due to the reconfiguration. I'll have to check with Stan to see when things will get back up and running.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

I shot Stan an email to see if he has his 2013 schedule worked out yet. I'm jones'n for a chance to redeem my last two matches of the year.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

yea i most of them due to a deployment so i saved up cash and gave me rig a new CBI tube and censhot bipod so i really wanna to shoot

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

Trent, did they have a December match? If there was, what the turnout? I'm wondering how many people even know what the calendar is since there is no link on AIM's site directing people to the link you gave.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

I think most of the people that show up are regulars. They will have all received the schedule from Stan. Hopefully they get there darn website fixed soon. They did have a December match but I couldn't make it because I wasn't home from Thanksgiving in time. I'm planning on making it to the 1,000yd match on Sunday. I'm not fully decided about Saturday's 600yd match yet.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

How many people came out on Sun? I was looking at the last LR match on the results and saw that F class was the majority.

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

i hope it was better than yesturday for the 600 yrd wind and mirage were a bitch you really had to read the wind i dailed 1.9 moa to hit center then held off accordingly

Re: 3x600 F-class at AIM, Blakely Georgia

Today wasn't a huge turnout. With weather and hunting season going on I think we had 13 shooters total. About 10 of those were f-class. I shot horribly.
