Can owners of the 4-16x42 ATACR post weights without lens caps/rings/etc. - just bare optic.

I'm using a 34oz optic on what is otherwise a lightweight hunting rifle. Moving to 30 oz (advertised weight of ATACR) is enough to rationalize the switch in my mind, but 32 oz (for example) is harder for me to justify. It sounds like NF might be a little optimistic on their advertised weights, so I'm trying to get a feel from a few samples out in the wild.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Understood, and I agree that bare weight should be what the MFG lists - 30oz in this case.

I'm just looking for actual real world weights. I've owned optics that are dead nuts exactly as advertised and I've owned optics that were heavier than advertised. I'm trying to get a rough idea what the case might be for the 4-16x42 ATACR.

Any owners out there that can help out would be appreciated.

^^^ I hear you, Bushnell advertises 34oz for their DMR II scopes, I've had two and both have been north of 35oz on my scale that has been accurate for all other scopes. I'd be curious if a bare ATACR 4-16x42 is any different from advertised. The Burris XTR III 3.3-18x50 and Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44 were spot on with their weight, but I've never checked out the ATACR...

I think when the OP made this thread he was asking if someone could actually weigh one for him vs looking it up online. At least that's how i read it. I'm sure he can check online but was trying to make sure the online description wasn't off.

I don’t have one or I’d weigh it for you.

I would however advise you to get the optic you really want and don’t worry about that little of a difference in weight. If 2 or 4 ounces is going to break you then you are really living on the edge 😜

I was telling him he should get an nx8 if he is counting ounces.

Or he could get a mk5 at 26 ounces.

    I’ve had a Mk5. The NX8 doesn’t really interest me, thanks though.

I get that a couple ounces won’t make a big difference. But that is also why I’m asking.

Anyone that can weigh their bare 4-16x42 ATACR & post the weight would be appreciated.

Go through the Optics PX and ask people who have 42’s for sale. Majority of people aren’t going to unmount their optic so you can get a weight for a couple ounces difference
I thought the same before starting the thread, but didn’t see any active listenings (could have missed it).

Just weighed mine and it’s 29.8 oz
    Thank you!
