40 MOA base for Tikka T3 in .300WM - long range shooting out to 1400m

Hi y'all
I have a Tikka T3 chambered in .300 Win Mag topped with a nightforce NXS 8-32x56 which I want to shoot out to 1.400m in a match coming up in June. The scope is currently mounted on a 20 MOA base zeroed on 200m, with -7.3/+12 clicks travel available.

With 78,7gr of Vit. N165 I get a V0 of 915m/s. The 185gr Lapua Scenar HPBT goes subsonic somewhere around 1.250m. Out to 1.400m I need to come up 19.7 mils (67.6 MOA) which means I am 7,7 mils short of elevation travel. I am threfore thinking about mounting a 40 MOA base which would give me another 6,7 mils of elevation, and would allow me to reach the target with one mil holdover.

I have searched the forum and the internt but did not find any good solutions/answers.

Do you guys know where to get such a mount and does anyone have first hand experienc with such a base on a tikka chambered in .300 Win Mag?

Try Near Mfg. I know Richard makes 45 MOA bases for the Sako TRG, and being that the Tikka is a cousin of the Sako, he may be able to help you. Not 100% but worth a phone call.

I contacted both, Near Manufacturing and Spuhr, and will keep you updated about what kind of solutions they came up with.
The Spuhr solution with a direct mount on the Tikka action sounds interesting. The 44 MOA would take my 200m zero to the very bottom ot the elevation turret dial, probably even with enough down clicks left to dial to 100m if necessary.

Most matches in my area are on 200m and 500m ranges, but every so often there is a chance to enter some events with stages beyond 1000m. I ask myself now if it would be better to change the mounts for such occasions, and stay withthe 20 MOA base for regular events (takes the .300 WM out to 1000m) or to make this a permanent solution.

Can there be any problems with tracking on the lower end of the NXS turret dial?

Our 44,.4 moa mounts are only in 34mm and not in 30 sorry.
But we have 20 moa mounts that you can mount on the current picatinny and then you will get the total 40 moa.

You could always use the Burris Sig rings and swap the inserts for the proper MOA slope. You can get 40 MOA out of those rings alone. If it were me, I'd just add the 20 MOA worth of inserts to get your goal of 40. (-.010 in back, +.010 in the front.)

I understand, it's the SP3601, is there a price difference if I order the mount from Austria Arms?

Any thoughts regarding the scope tracking issue, when my zero is dialed down to the very bottom of the NXS elevation travel range?

You can have a custom one from this guys , at a good price 85-120 EUR the rail and about 15 EUR shipping to Vienna.
1 advice if you go custom get a 50 or even 60 MOA rail , is better for your scope (some at maximum adjustment become inconsistent or tend to brake because of erector spring tension).

Thanks Trac I will chech them out, from what I found on the first visit they only have 20MOA bases, but I will contact them to see if they have any other optiions. Thanks also for the advice, re inconsitency at the bottom of the elevation range of the scope. It seem as if my scope is tracking bad even in the middle range of adjustments.
