Are 40X rimfire triggers and 40X centerfire triggers the same (and interchangeable)? I have an older 40X rimfire (from CMP) and the trigger is different from 700 triggers. There is a long vertical
screw that holds a small "ball bearing" right in front of the trigger shoe. Can I replace this triggewith a standard 700 trigger? How do you adjust the old 40X trigger, since the adjustment screws are different format than the 700 trigger's arrangement? Thanks in advance.

That long vertical screw on the front of the 722-style 40X triggers is the adjustment for weight of pull. It's quite easy to get these triggers down to less than 2lbs using this adjustment.

I tried a Timney Calvin Elite on my Jelrod-modified 722-style 40X repeater, but couldn't get it to perform consistently. Had the same issue with this particular trigger on a Stiller 2500XR repeater. So I sat this CE trigger aside & replaced it with Jewell HVR triggers on both the Stiller & 40X, and have not had a single issue with either.
