40-XS info

I would appreciate any information on the rifle in the middle, it is a Remington 40-XS .308, I suspect it was built around 2007 to 2011, but I am not sure. It has "Remington Custom Shop" stamped on the barrel, the Pelican hard case that it's in has a label with its serial # and says "R&D Rm". Thanks.
The rifle in the middle of the pic, does if say Ilion NY or Sturgis SD on the barrel stamp?

We built that model in SD the entire time that the Custom Shop was in South Dakota at the Dakota Arms facility. And yes, it was built in NY as well pre SD days. It should have a Badger Ordnance rail on it. When we (Dakota Arms) were handed the Custom Shop we didn’t use Pelican cases. We used SKB as our case supplier. I would bet that your rifle was built in Ilion.

Could be a very good possibility it has a Hart Barrel on it but could also be a true Remington produced “40X” barrel.

How does it shoot?

I have not shot it yet, the scope currently on the M24 will go on it, it is a Mark 4 3-10 x 40 with M5 turret, the period correct scope for it would be the one with the M1 turret. It is a very heavy gun, it's heavier than the M24. The Pelican case says R&D Rm 4th floor, whatever that means.
