.408 CheyTac action/barrel

Re: .408 CheyTac action/barrel

There are really only 3 actions out there I know of that will work with the cheytac family.

1- Stiller
2- Barker machine works
3- Defiance machine

Currently there is only 2 barrel manufacturers that I use for the 408 caliber.

1- Rock creek barrels
2- Benchmark

Which action and barrel do you recommend the most? And are those the only two barrels available or the only 2 that you use?

Robert,
Lilja barrels and Lawton 8000(I had a conversation with them, they will begin work in October - November 2012)?

Lawton has a LONG WAYS to go before I would ever speak their name in a thread asking for recommendations. They screwed a fair number of people in their downhill slide and have been "starting back up" for well over a year now.

Mostly use the stiller tac408.

Those are the 2 barrel manufactures that I use and currently recomend for a 408. Now if Lilja gets involved I'll give them a try and see how they work.

Jason is exactly right. Until they have proven themselfs to be reliable and trust worthy I would stay away from them.

Hi Robert,
which barrel diameter your "tac408"-1.450" and 416-type stainless?

Re: .408 CheyTac action/barrel

The only reason I can think of why people are still going for .408CT builds is because they're unaware that the vast majority of .408 shooters have moved to the .375CT - a ballistically superior cartridge with better bullet options.
