This isn't about sniper rifle, but when I was about 10 years old my oldest brother acquired a 45 70 rolling block rifle and it seems to me that the ammo was longer than the 45 70 of today. It might be it just seemed that way because I was young, can anyone clear this up for me thanks

If it is 45-70 then that is what it is. It may have had longer bullets loaded into it, but case dimensions haven't changed.

May also be that he was warned not to use “modern” 45/70 in it. There is .45/70 loaded up for things like NEF break-opens or reproduction guns that was not safe in some trap doors or rolling blocks

Thanks everyone: that was about 65 years ago and I thought that was the coolest rifle I ever saw looked like a Buffalo rifle to me
