45 ammo shortage

Anyone else having trouble finding ammo for a 45acp? Im just north of Detroit by about 30 miles, and it seems like NOBODY has any 45 ammo! It's strange, I dont know if its going over seas or if people are just buying it all up to stockpile? If anyone knows where i can find some good personal defense rounds, please let me know. Thanks.

if you looking for a local store, I cant help. but cheaperthandirt.com has great prices on ammo. some brands have way better deals than others but all are pretty good.

Aimsurplus has some decent training rounds if your interested.. Also try Natchez

It's all over the place here, I have a huge stock pile but it's piled up at every store because the cheapest boxes of 50 are going for at least 23 dollars.

Dunno, but I just bought a couple hundred rds at wal-mart - they even had 40ACP..

They have WInchester 223 at 9.95 a box, but I think it's only 20 rds....still, that's 50 cents a rd...

Got 100 rnds last week at Scheels. I know at least 3 local walmarts and 1 sporting goods store was out. Plain ol' 230gr fmj for 46.00

I cannot believe that any shooter could even try to afford today's ammo prices. I'm so glad I got my reloading press when I did. People told me it was a waste to load 9mm because I could buy it for $100/thou. I bought the stuff to load it anyway. Today I'm still loading 9mm for $100/thou while the going rate for factory has to be at least 2x that.

I also roll my own,as DZ said years ago I made the investment in 2 Dillons and 3 single stage presses now it costs me pennies on the round.No shortage to worry about here.

wait, you're saying at todays rates you can by 9mm ammo in a thousand rounds case for $200.00 ?!

here walmart is 14.97 for blazer brass, the federal 100 round bulk boxes are $28ish. its all i buy so i cant tell you about other prices. havent looked for a while to see who is in stock with what. we have three walmarts to choose from though. honestly, i think its time for a dillon.

Try ammoman.com or palmettostatearmory.com. My local gun store makes my bullets so I just save my brass and give it to them.
