Hello sh.
It's common to see that ppl mount 1-4x or 1.5-6x optics on their ARs and mount tiny red-dot on the top of it or on the 45 degree cant mount.

Got strange question - has anyone tried to mount eotech in usual place and 3-9x scout scope on the 45 degree at the fore-end?

Or if to make upper with ejection on the left side (i'm right handed shooter and cant rifle to the left to change switch between optics) and put 1.5-6x scope on the 45 degree close to eye.

Really don't want to offend with my question.

Re: 45 degree cant scout scope mount question

Just by the very nature of the optic you would want a better shoulder position on the scope as opposed to the eotech. So you really would want to go with a standard position unless you have some unique shooting position in a competition that would make it advantageous to you.

I would think that if you mounted it on a 45, you would have a difficult time keeping it directly above the bore. This isn't such a big deal with the little red dot as you are using it for CQB type purposes, so if it is not exactly on the mark, it isn't a huge deal. If your scope, that you are probably using for distance work is not directly over the bore, then you have to figure out how much off bore it is, what your required adjustments would be for each range, then REMEMBER all that any time you want to reach out for a target!

If I've got a round fore-end with ability to attach 1913 rails (like JP fore-end)- so I will be able to mount scope with long eye-relief right over the bore. And it could be not on 45 degree but on 1 o'clock or close to that position.

And to get the index mark I can mount Harris bipod or short grip at the opposite side of the fore-end.

I know that it's better to have a good cheek-rest when shooting at the long range but my question was basically - that if you've got a .223 and want to shoot long range - obviously you'll have a time to make a shot.

And if majority of use is inside 150 yards distance - to mount red-dot as the main sight in usual position...

Well my question was just because I don't like the optics (even 1-4x) as a primary - my eyes prefer eotech but I can't see a small steel plate-targets at 200-300 meters with it.
