so here i am at the range this weekend with my new 458 socom savage. 16" barrel and having great results with 325 ftx bullets .980 5 shots at one hundred yards when i pull out my load for the barnes 500 tsx bullet.
i squeeze the trigger and it goes sproinggg and nothing. i open the bolt and gas blows out the side of the gun. not much mind you more of a hiss. remove the bolt and case like normal no issue there check the bore and 1" from the muzzle there sits my 500 grain bullet. the load i am using is a "published load" for 500's any ideas how to fix this? crimp is nice and tight , powder charge is five % below the max, oal is .005 off the lands.
-i have not loaded for subsonic velocities before
-i am not new to reloading
-looking to get information from others that have loaded similar rounds before , not people that are regurgitating info they were told by their uncle lester the last time they were at the range.
thanks
