4831sc for .338 lapua

Re: 4831sc for .338 lapua

off the top of my head I would say if you are using 225gr or smaller bullets you could get away with it in a pinch--but it is not an ideal powder. For heavier 250's or 300's dont even bother. You will need a much slower powder such as RL25 or Retumbo

Personally never used Ramshot Magnum but it looks like a good option. After running the numbers using 4832sc is not horrible. You will give up a bit of performance but if you are looking to burn up some powder it will work.

H4831 shot very good in my Lapua...in the end I chose VVN560 for the 250 Scenar and Retumbo for the 300 Scenar.

The N560 was a bit more consistant on E.S. than anything else with the 250. The downside is VV powder is spendy...but it costs a lot to shoot a Lapua no matter what you load.

Good Luck!!

Yep, same here. Out to 1k and loaded between 85.5-87grs under the two 250s, it's a moderate load that works well for my Sako. With a 1:12", I don't shoot the 300s, but VV-165, VV-170 and H-1000 have also worked well. I have some RL-25 to fiddle with down the road.

Load to the distance you intend to shoot. If you don't have to load hot to get there, don't. Your throat will thank you.
