A friend bought a fixed 4x scope for an air rifle. It does not have a adjustable focus. He wanted to know if this will cause him any problems inside of 50 yards?

No, parallax is more of an issue at beyond 10x and out to distance.
Scope under 10x generally don't have a parallax issue.
Tell him that he just needs to have a consistent cheek weld, as changing that may cause a shift.
