Hey All,

I am looking at buying a 5.11 MultiCam RUSH 12 Backpack. This pack would be used as my hunting and fishing pack in addition to my range bag/ tactical shooting bag. Have any of you ever used this backpack? If so how is it?

Re: 5.11 Tactical Pack

I have the 5.11 Rush 24 pack and love it. Has a lot of storage space and internal smaller pockets which makes it easy to bundle like items in one pocket and other like items in another (for example, matches, fire starter, hand warmers, etc.). Keeps you nice and organized. It's very comfortable to wear with heavy loads and the material is excellent. Been looking to get a Rush 12 because the 24 is a little big for just a quick trip out in the woods. Curious to see what others who own it have to say.

Re: 5.11 Tactical Pack

The Rush 12 may prove too small depending on your particular needs in terms of the amount/size of the gear you'll be hauling around. You may be better served by moving up to the Rush 24.

That warning given...the 5.11 packs are extremely well-made in my experience and will serve you well!

Re: 5.11 Tactical Pack

Thanks guys for the responses.

I intentionally chose the rush 12 due to its more compact size. My purpose for it is a half day trip pack. Hunting for five or six hours, hiking to fishing spots for a couple hours and going to the range or hiking to a shooting spot. I think it will be absolutely perfect once I put some pouches and other accessories on it.

Re: 5.11 Tactical Pack

Probably a wise move, you can easily get enough stuff in a 24 that you really need a waistbelt to help distribute the weight. Durable packs though, slightly on the heavy side compared to a standard backpack, but a standard backpack won't take the abuse.

I have 2 rush 72 and love them best pack out there. And I've owned almost all of them at one time or another

5.11 Rush 12
Pros:
Awesome assortment dividers, very comfortable.

Cons: My EMS partner bought one a year ago for daily items (~10lbs) in the ambulance, after 3 months of VERY EASY use the shoulder strap ripped off the top of the pack. The reinforcement/stitching in that area is a joke.

Upon calling 5.11, they informed him there was no warranty on the pack and they would not repair it. The customer service rep, and later their supervisor, were both extremely rude to my partner.

After not being able to get the pack repaired, my partner eventually scrapped the pack as it was useless in it's configuration and replaced it with a similar Condor brand bag. Best part was the Condor had a FAR superior harness/reinforcement area on the shoulder strap. It's been going strong for about 8 months and cost $60 less than the 5.11. You get what you pay for, right?

Re: 5.11 Tactical Pack

They are good packs, a little heavy and extras for organizing but that what sells in today's market. 1250ci is about right for a day pack but I prefer 1800ci. If you start adding pouches and extras on the outside, you might be better served with larger capacity. I am not a fan of 5.11 pouches. I picked up some and a couple of them do not stay snapped, never lost one yet but they do unsnap quite frequently and I find them hanging lose over the day. I prefer a traditional klettersack over the Greg Lowe clamshell as they are a more slim design for better carry on the back, snag less on brush and better protection from the weather. But have many clamshells. You will be happy!
