5.56 Suggestions

Re: 5.56 Suggestions

Just looking for a different flavor or what? There's a reason they're all in the AR platform... inherent accuracy, parts availability and personalization.

Application?

Re: 5.56 Suggestions

Not necessarily endorsing these, but you asked for alternatives to AR for 5.56NATO or 223rem semiauto. Here are a few:

Kel-Tec SU-16
Robinson XCR
Steyr AUG
MSAR
Tavor TAR-21
FN FS2000

18.5" Heavy Barrel MSAR is a good option, I'll try and find pictures of the DMR setup I saw a few months ago.

ETA Found it, or something like it:

Excellent report. I don't know how I misssed it. Interestingly enough I have the same single flyer issue opening up my groups with my SIG 556 regardless of bullet weight.

Re: 5.56 Suggestions

Well you know, I can't speak to the possible reason(s) behind your flyers, but the sad truth is that mine are certainly driver error. I think that part of that is getting used to the 6 lb trigger pull and (IMO) excessively long travel, but I also admit that my feeble skills are as yet no match for the dark side (LOL). The good thing is that there's a fella that goes by the name of 7art at Sig556 forum that's worked up an improved trigger for Sig 556s and is currently working with Sig on possibly marketing them. My understanding is that it's a 2-stage, with adjustable pull in the 3-5 lb range. In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to work on my hold and pull a little harder.
