50 Shades of FDE - Let's see them.

Looking for some inspiration. I've got a AR308 build in progress and I've decided to go full white trash FDE on this one. Lately I've been intrigued multiple shades of FDE on a build.

Let's see what you've got. Here's a couple I found.

Not mine. Just one I saw on the computer. I think Knights used those B5 precision stock on M110 models with the Law folder.

A little more research lead me to some CAG 416 carbine builds that really look sharp.

I tried a 50 shades of FDE build, but all of the parts match really well. They’re all the same color. Probably the only owner of an FDE rifle a bit sad that his rifle is all matching in color…

I actually said I wanted 50 shades of FDE when I ordered it. Its a complete Type-A 13.7 Pro. The colors they used were Midnight bronze for the hand guard, Magpul FDE for the upper, Sand for the lower, and the B5 stock and grip are in Coyote brown.

My “AR-10” fits in this thread. It was kind of a “Give A Mouse A Cookie” situation.

I found the upper for an absolute steal, on another forum. It started black, but had been rattle-canned “FDE”. Since my journey into the 308 semi-auto platform was just beginning, I wasn’t sure what would fit with what, so I just stayed with Aero Precision.

The lower is the Aero M5 in FDE. It doesn’t match the rattle-can, at all.

The stock I wanted was the Magpul PRS. I got the PRS Lite, which also doesn’t match the upper or lower. It does match the Magpul angled foregrip. The Magpul sling matches decent.

I went with a black Ergo grip, since I like them and black matches the optics/mounts.

For those curious, here’s what else I used that wasn’t already mentioned:

Aero phosphate BCG
Aero adjustable gas block
Aero BREACH charging handle in FDE
Leupold angled mount for DPP
Leupold DPP
Leupold offset 34mm mount
Burris XTRii 4-20x
(the bipod and GG&G mount came on the upper)
I have an Aero nickel-boron 2-stage trigger, but it isn’t installed, yet.

My issued MK20 was a VERY early one and the "FDE" anodizing on it was literally Trump orange.

I'll try to find a representative pic.

Ok, so this pic has an orange upper, but to visualize what mine was like, make the upper twice as orange.

Or picture it as at least as orange as the lower in this pic.

^^^^^No shit, "Python" then add all different patterns!! great pic........
Notice how black stands out on anything FDE/Tan etc. it's so obvious.
In my AO the "swamp" I prefer the green vs tan as it's the predominant
color but just can't shake the look of multi color FDE/tan. Except for the RAL
no bueno for me..........

What's up with that magnifier mounted so far back?

The magnifier is an Eotech G43. It’s just really short. The T2 on the unity is on the front edge of the upper where I like it. It just looks a little weird with the short magnifier.
