I just found a site: paracordstore.com, offering 1000 foot spools of 550, in an array of different colors for $54.95 a spool. Is this a good deal? Anyone dealt with these guys? A 1000 feet would last me a Long, Long time! Thanks in advance.
I JUST looked at the group buy in the PX section. Guy has 'em for $75 for black and reflective, $46 for any other color, plus applicable shipping. There's like 100 different colors too, camo and brights. I'd look into that if you're gonna get some now. Wife wouldn't let me pull the trigger on it this time.
Another good source is supplycaptain.com - prices are within a couple dollars of any group buy around here and if the color you want is listed, it's in stock and will ship fast. Have bought many times through them with zero complaints. If you don't want to wait for a group buy to run it's course, check Supply Captain: 550 PARACORD, ROPE, and PARACORD ACCESSORIES out.
I'm glad I asked! Thanks for those posting an answer, I've gone on line and found a great site "Parachute-cord.com", they have the best price yet.
Color Parachute Cord
1000 Foot Spool - $44.95 This is for their 100 different colors- Who knew you could get it in so many different colors? The world is changing.
Just a heads up for you, all 550 cord is not the same. I would have to look up the vendor receipt but I know it's an East Coast firm if you do a Google search. IIRC, there are only one or two companies that make the actual mil-spec cord. You can buy from them or a distributor but the actual 550 cord is what you want for guaranteed performance.

Some use it for artsy-fartsy stuff. I've used it for duck/predator call lanyards (braid them in specific weaves, and save myself $40 for a store bought one). Now, depending on the type of hunting, I just grab the corresponding lanyard and all my calls are there. I've seen some braid horse lead ropes and such as well....
