We joke but its terrifying when youre in it. I was sleeping in a motel just east of the big one at Joshua Tree back in the 90's. Woke up and the bed was kind of gently going up and down. Half asleep I thought WTF, then it hit me, "Earthquake get outside." Before I cold move it became so violent I COULDNT get out of bed, jsut hold on. Seemed like the floor was fluxing about 3 feet but it was early and I might have misjudged it. When I got to San Diego I looked all over til I found a one story frame motel. Figured I could push some 2x4's off me but 100 tone of reinforced concrete ...not so much.
