Oh okay, it used to always be first public "I'll take it" would trump pm per forum rules.

Maybe I missed it when they changed that

it's because of the scammers. they stated seeing people go "I will take it" and then making an account that looks just like the sellers name with a . beside it or something like that, and sending a pm to the one who said "I will take it" and tricking people into thinking it's the seller and sending them money instead, and similar stunts. so people stopped saying "I will take it" in the thread, and sending a pm to the seller instead so they knew it was the correct person. it sucks and it was a lot easier when it was public

that's sort of the idea of posting that you are sending a pm, so people know you claimed it... Definitely not as good as it used to be the old way but....

Can confirm this happens quite a bit - I experienced this a couple of times where they attempted to scam during sale / purchase. PMs are the way forward
