Anyone played around with reloading the 156g berger in 6.5CM? I have found a ton of 6.5 PRC with the bullet but so far my search has not yielded much on the 6.5CM.

i will keep looking or if there is a thread i have missed, feel free to let me know so we dont repeat etc.

I am looking at trying to use the RL26 on this round but not sure where best to start with on the load.

Thanks in advance and look forward to some discussion.

This may be helpful to you.

Mine shoots it well. 45.8gr in Peterson’s SRP brass gets 2820 in a 26” barrel. Killed a few deer with them this year. Trying to get a 800+ yard shot before season ends.

I am running 147s over 45.8gr of RL26 in Peterson SRP with CCI 450. I get 2835fps in a 26" pipe.

I've heard the 156 loads very close to the 147. Your info confirms that.

Following up:

headed out today for both 140g Berger VLD and 156g Berger Elite

shooting a bergara B14 24" barrel. Loads at 2.818 and using RL26 powder with cci primer and Lapua brass (once fired)

for 140s looking at 47.0, 47.3, 47.6, 48.0
for 156s looking at 45.5, 45.8, 46.1, 46.4

had no idea where i would be on this rifle.

the 140g at 47.0 4 shots were 2969, 2954, 2953, 2974....screaming... and definitely some tough bolt pull.
at 47.3 first shot had a badly raised primer so i stopped. i will look to drop the powder on these quite a bit and also may test N560 and H4350 powders as well

the 156 45.5 2771, 2765, 2793, 2780, 2787
the 156 45.8 2782, 2793, 2814, 2799, 2797
second shot at 46.1 had raised primer and stopped.

these are pretty solid fast runs ... the 45.5 had a really nice grouping as well but i will still look at some of the other powders... would love to run the R19 or R17 but as most anything cant get my hands on them yet ;)

i have 6 weeks to dial in my load for elk hunt...
