Went out this morning and shot 4 different factory offerings and thought I would share the results. The ammo was Berger 130, Prime 130, Hornady 140ELDM and 147Eldm. The rifle is a factory Howa 1500 #6 with a PVA brake sitting in an oryx chassis. The rifle is topped with a swfa 10x42 (the old moa/mil mix) I first shot 2 rounds each at 100 to check zero offset between the ammo.
I then moved out to 300 and shot 4 shot groups. These were shot round robin style 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1 20min break 4-3-2-1-1-2-3-4. I was surprised that the Berger didn’t perform as well as it usually does. Usually it is as good as the 140 Hornady but today it wasn’t. (Could have been the loose nut behind the chassis)
I also shot everything over n F1 optical chrony and these are the averages I saw.
In a few other tests I’ve done the Berger normally stays around .75-1moa. There was a right to left 3-9 gusty wind that helped to open the groups up a little today. With the wind picking up I decided to hold off on the longer test but will revisit them out around the 800 mark soon. The Prime shows promise in its vertical spread and I believe it will do good on a calm day or in a steady wind. I will updat afree I get that test completed.
