I am looking into loading some 130gr Berger vld hunting bullets with IMR 4451 for my 6.5 creedmoor. Any of you have any loading data on that combo. I am finding 36-39 in some places and others talking about 41.5 and even higher being the max. I know each rifle is different and I should work my way up but what should be considered a good starting point and maximum load . Any info would be appreciated.

Generally 10% below max is considered a safe starting point. You will have to determine the max for yourself because it depends on your individual rifle.

If you are interested in most accurate, it may be less than the 10% below max stated above.

In my 260 I had to run about half a grain more to match H4350 load speeds but I could get more safe speed from 4451 than H4350 in the top end.
I’d just start with H4350 data and work up.

You’ll be able to push ahead of max charge in most cases. There’s no benefit to the 130 below 2900fps ballistically speaking. Hunting is a different story I guess. IMHO.

I run 42.5 grs 4451 in my 6.5 creed with the 140 eldm and the average is 2820 fps. Steel mentioned the half grain more from 4350 for same velocity and I have found that to be true. I started using my 4350 data and worked up to find the node so best bet is to start low and work up obviously...
