Anybody using this stuff?? I’m thinking about trying some for 400yd barricade practice ammo, or do y’all have some better options?

Groups right along with Match for me out to 500ish
I tested a case last week. 1 MOA group @100 and easy hits on a 20" gong at 640 yd with a factory fresh RR 700. It chrono'd out of my 22" barrel at 2660fps with an SD of 25 and an ES of 86. Not too bad for cheapish bulk ammo.
guy used it in a match this past weekend in my squad. Didnt seem like the ammo was holding him back.
I’ve shot several thousand and found it very accurate out to around 700-800 yards. They seem to be loaded fairly slow which can cause some frustration when trying to reach out further with consistent hits.

They had that free shipping promo last week or whenever but now the LAX free shipping is only for LAX manufactured ammo.
With the LAX shipping its 20 bucks shipping for the 2 cans of american gunner for 295 total which equals 73 cents per round. Still cheaper than the target sports at 80 cents per though.
That’s true, I didn’t know about tho.. I do know that I can’t afford to shoot expensive match for practice.. lots of good feedback I appreciate it

I use it for anything < 700 yards. Have shot it to 900 yards. Best value out there, especially, if you are shooting steel at distances < 700 yards. Wouldn't use it for shooting groups in a comp

If your rifle likes it it will shoot well under moa out to as far as you would ever shoot it. I take it to 900 yards and lay them inside a 12” plate with plenty of room to spare. If I miss, its me. It shoots slow like all Hornady 6.5 creedmoor ammo but it is plenty consistent.

I hit a 36" plate at 1,790 yards with this ammo last weekend. I like this ammo, it's readily available, and shoots well in my gun. It does come out a little slow like others said but no complaints over here.
I get what you are saying and I agree with your point completely as it was the exact point I made already. I am not discounting anyone’s actual real life experiences. I may debate such things but never dismiss. In this case, I am banking that the guys that are saying that its only good for such and such aren’t coming from their own experiences.
Lots of guys regurgitate what they read and not from what they actually do. Sometimes its easy to tell the difference and sometimes its not. This was my point.
I did say “don't believe what the internet told you” and to “try for yourself.” My post falls under that statement as well. I never said believe only what I say and discount others. So your post only verified what I said to begin with. Try for yourself and report back.

I agree with you in that:
1. AG ammo is really good (especially for the price) and that people should try it themselves to verify it will work for their purpose.
2. The internet can be a massive rumor mill which people should take hearsay with a huge grain of salt and it can also be a treasure trove of good information if your careful.
The majority of the prior posts were first person accounts, not hearsay, of actually shooting the ammunition as were your and mine. I interpreted your original post as a little bit confusing as you seemed to meld the other first hand users with the internet Rumor Crew.
I think we are effectively on the same page but might just express it differently.

I shot 40 rounds of it (American Gunner 6.5 CM) and my rifle found it somewhat lacking. Good for range fodder it was. But for honing my skills at precision shooting it was much less impressive in terms of consistency that Hornady ELD-M offerings in various weights.
It's fairly inexpensive and dang good for what we pay for it but it doesn't run well in my rifle. Everyone's mileage may vary as all guns have their preferred fodder. Hornady 147 gr. ELD-M runs .5ish MOA in my gun. The AG 140 stuff is good. The Hornady ELD-M stuff is way better but significantly more expensive. The American Gunner runs 1 MOA in my gun but with ELD-M and handloads running literally half it's a no brainer for me and mine.
Shooting for brass and confidence? Use what works.

Good stuff, yeah the Hornady 140 eldm runs good in my gun, but I’ve switched to Berger 130 factory ammo for matches, which shoots lights out.. I don’t hand load yet, so I’ve been wanting to try this American Gunner for Saturday range fodder off barricades out to 350-400 yds.. I just can’t afford to torch premium match ammo down range for practice only..
I used AG for all my shooting at the Alaska class and it worked really well for me. I was surprised that it was shooting 1/2MOA out of my Tikka TAC A1 at 100 & 200 yards local range. I was hoping it'd work well enough at the class and it really did. I had some inconsistencies at 1000 yard target but honestly that's likely more on me the shooter than the ammo. I've stocked up on another 600 rounds of it. Just got my AXMC setup for 6.5CM as well so hopefully it works as well in that as in my Tikka.
Groups well for me. If you buy enough ammo you may want to check out Target Sports PRIME ammo membership. Its 95 a year but free shipping (no min) along with discounts.

It shoots equally well in my Bergara and GAP rifles. 5 shot groups are around .6 - .8 MOA out of both rifles. Earlier this morning we were shooting steel at 500 and 745 yards with no issues whatsoever. It's affordable, readily available, and shoots great!

I used it last year for the Sniper’s Hide/ Mile High Precision Rifle Course. It shot great out of my Tikka T3.
I get similar accuracy results at 100 yards with my CTR and Ruger Predator.
Chrono results:
CTR w/ Omega: 2506 fps
CTR w/o Omega: 2583 fps
1x brass sells for 30-35 cents per case, making the American Gunner pretty cheap plinking ammo.
Interesting you saw a decease in FPS with the omega, does that happen often for you?
Good question that I don't have an answer to.
Those were taken on different days and probably with different lots of ammo as well.
The 2506 is a 10-shot average, SD 25.4, ES 73, 55*F, 90% humidity, 30.17" Hg.
The 2583 is also a 10-shot average, SD 12.9, ES 44, 86*, 49% humidity, 29.95" Hg.
I don't know how temp-stable American Gunner is, so I don't know if it was the temp, the can, lot to lot variation, black magic, or the dark arts that caused it.
Better groups and much better SD/ES than the Hornady "match" ammo. My RPR loves it.
American Gunner was 3/4" group with a SD of 13. MV was slow at 2633.
Hornady Match 140 ELD was 1" groups, SD of 35, and a MV of 2715 or 2720.
I bought a bunch of the stuff. It shoots consistently around MOA for me out of a DDA AR10. That's as good as I can expect.
This ammo seems to be highly regarded and a great performer at a solid price. is it worth going to something like Berger 130/140 6.5 cm ammo for precision shooting over this or save the $ and buy the gunner?

I have found that some rifles like it and some dont. I had a friend buy some in that July 4th deal, 400rds for $269.99 and free shipping to shoot in a new Bartlein 22" 6.5cm upper I built him. I tuned the gas and SCS with it and then shot a few groups @ 100. Was grouping sub 0.75moa.
It shoots great out of my AI AT out to about 800 yards and then it gets a little inconsistent beyond that. Shooting at 10 inch gongs at 1000 yards, one would be high, the next a little low, another low, another high - just too much vertical stringing for my liking. but at shorter distances where velocity inconsistencies are less noticeable the stuff just hammers. Usually around 0.3 MOA groups at 100 yards.
That depends on what your expectations are.
It's good ammo, and 10 or 20 years ago, it would have been great ammo.
If you're shooting at longer distances and want/need very high BC bullets and very low SD/ES to meet your accuracy needs, Am Gunner may not be the best choice.
If you're content banging on IPSC targets at 600 yards, Am Gunner should be fine.

Its much better than the examples you have given. By far. I can keep them centered up on a 12” plate at 900 yards out of my rifle. May not match up well with yours is all.
I get the same velocity as you through my 24” tikka. 100FPs less with my 20” tikka. I get 2710 fps out of my 24” Spencer barrel. Slow but plenty consistent according to my targets at distance. I dont use a chrono.
I’m getting very similar velocities, but double the sd, mine are around 20. Which as others have said, can create issues at distance.
Got a box of 200 rounds to use for practice and at the local matches. Shoots great groups for sure, need to get out the chonro to test velocity next.
No you don’t. Go shoot at distance and let the results speak. I would rather you come back and say that the ammo will or won’t work for you and not come back on here and post some numbers a chrono spit out. One of the two tests actually matter.
Sure thing, gonna run it at a PRS clinic and match this coming weekend.
