I need some advice on a barrel for a SBR AR15 in 6.5 Grendel. I have sent off the paperwork to register a lower for a 6.5G build with a 12" bbl. I need your alls opinions on twist rate and who should I have make it? Also, carbine length gas tube or intermediate?

I already have the barrel extension and so on but I need a high quality, accurate, barrel maker to turn this thing out. I have heard excellent things about the 6.5G in a SBR. I am interested to see where this ends up.

Thanks!

Re: 6.5G Barrel options?

I've heard a SBR 6.5G yields some impressive ballistics and still can handle distance shots with very good accuracy. Im sure it will be a cool setup.

I have called Satern, they are checking on some timelines for me.

Sabre Defense
Satern
Alexander Arms

Are the top Grendel barrel makers but if Rock and Krieger are making them I would go with one of them but they probly just have the 6.5mm name and not the "Grendel" name on it but who cares cuz they will shoot the same bullets.

I have a 18" Sabre Barrel on my Grendel and im going with a 20" or 24" Satern bbl for my next Grendel build.

No chrono info below 14.5 inch barrel,,,so does this round do well in a SBR platform?

Re: 6.5G Barrel options?

Sabre is also for sale as they are in deep shit with the government for letting their employees walk off with "out of spec" parts to rifles, then selling them on the internet.....
I will take my business elsewhere.

I have a call in to Satern Barrels for a barrel from them. She had a few in stock and I got 2 barrels to test with. I am going to have a gunsmith cut them both down from 18 to 12. We will see how they perform when the lower is approved for use with the ATF

Sir,

I had my upper done at Black Weapons Armory in Tucson. When I was there, he had quite a few Satern 6.5 Grendel barrels in stock. They also do a lot of NFA business. I also think the owner can get them fairly quickly as well, might be an option for you. http://www.blackweaponsarmory.com/magento/
