Hey, does anyone have information on freebore depth recommendation for extending the throat in a 6.5Lapua, shooting the 140gr. Hybrids?? I would like to set the bullets out as long as possible for extra powder.. Has anyone had experience with this and what would you recommend?? How much velocity can be picked up with this extra case capacity??

mine is throated for the 140 Hybirds to be loaded to just fit the AI mags at 2.850,,with a 28 inch barrel 8 twist I am getting 2825 fps with 40 grs H4350,,35.5 grs Varget gets 2750,,and the throat works well with the 123 Scenar also which gets 3100 with Varget and RL15,

I am currentlt happy with the 140 Hornady BTHP and 40.3 grs H4350 loaded at 2.775 and getting 2812 fps and 1 inch groups at 300
yards,,

I can email my smith and ask him about the freebore ,,

Please do so, with any other recommendations from him. My gun smith seems to think special chambers are for the birds and cause more trouble than they're worth. I to am having a 6.5 chambered here soon... Also, is their any other special tool needed besides the chamber reamer or do you just run it deeper??

unless the reamer is made for a long throat it takes an extra tool and another step,,I sent email and sometimes takes a couple days to hear back,,I measured best I could and it looks like it is close to .300 from the end of case to where the bullet touches the rifilings,,
