I have been running an oberdorf with wyatts box but would like to change to magazine. I see that red snake tactical is offering a bottom metal made for the 6.5prc short action that will give you 2.950, the only problem is that it is not released yet. Does anyone know another company already making a bottom metal for a 6.5prc. I know I could use a short action bottom metal, but I am curious if their is a M5 bottom metal out there made for the 6.5prc like the one red snake makes but you can purchase now. My goal is the put a mag on my prc, action is short.

I'm trying to understand what is different about the Red Snake bottom metal compared to other M5 bottom metals, and it sounds like the magazine well is placed a bit further back towards the trigger to allow the round to sit further back, that way any bullets seated at 2.950 don't get hung up on the feed ramp. I'm curious how much it brings the round back compared to other bottom metals.

Does the action you're using have a notched feed ramp? If so, this bottom metal probably wouldn't do much different than any other M5 pattern bottom metal.

Defiance ruckus short action. My hope was to find another manufacture making something similar to the red snake BM.

The Hawkins hunter mags allow for a 2.980 coal as long as your action is notched, I would believe it is being a defiance, how much does the red snake allow for coal

The red snake states 2.95. That is cool if Hawkins hunter mags will allow for 2.980. Red Snake said they had to set back the bottom metal to get 2.95.

I would believe the Hawkins bottom metal would work then if you just need 2.95 their bottom is standard m5, you shouldn’t have any issues being that your using a defiance action.

I have a Red Snake Tac DBM

I also have a Hawkins Hunter and flush mag

Im using the Hawkins and the Red Snake sits in the box
I believe most actions need some material relieved at the rear of the mag opening for it to work.
