I picked up 2 boxes of Lapua factory ammo from Powder Valley. One box of 123's and 1 box of 139's. Went to the range and shot 8 rounds of each. Got home and was going to load up a few empties to see where I could get with RE15. I have never loaded this cartridge before so to my surprise it wouldn't fit in the shell holder? I thought to myself what the hell, it should be the same as the .308? Then I realized the extractor groove was over sized. I checked all fired brass and found about half were over sized. Also checked the loaded ammo, and about 1/3 of each box have over sized extractor grooves.

Going to give PV a call and Lot #'s TUE.

Anybody have this issue before?

Re: 6.5x47 Brass Problem

Hello Spot. I'm the USA rep for Lapua located in Sedalia, MO. Give me a call at 660-826-3232 and either me or Kevin Thomas will help you with your Lapua brass issue.

Those numbers you listed are the product codes, not the lot numbers. The lot numbers are on the box side and contain both numbers and letters.

Best Regards,

Adam Braverman
Lapua USA

Fellas:

Adam is as good as they come. If you have a Lapua issue give him a shout. He will take care of you. They don't come much better than this guy.

BTW Adam... I'm still giving Pharr shit as often as possible. You should see the new rifle he built me... See ya at SHOT!

Told ya... Adam's a good dude, and he's funny as hell. You should hear him bustin' Mark Pharr & Chris Bixler's balls at SHOT... hilarious.

Re: 6.5x47 Brass Problem

Met Chris at Shot '07, in '09 we talked again. Never did send me a piece of brass in 47 as he offered so guess I am going with a 260.

Re: 6.5x47 Brass Problem

Adam took care of my Issues and made it right. This man did a lot for Lapua and I hope that they know that.

Note I use nothing else after the Customer service that Adam Gave me.

Hats off to you Adam..

Re: 6.5x47 Brass Problem

The 6.5x55 uses a slightly larger case head and uses a No. 3 shell holder. The Europeans have always used the larger size, but US brass was smaller, the same size as .308/30-06. What is the parent brass for the 6.5x47?

There is no parent case.
