6.5x47 MA-10???

Has anyone done a 6.5x47 in an AR-10? Does it feed and cycle well? I have been thinking about building one on a Mega receiver set. I am a Mega Dealer so the price would be right and I have all the 6.5x47 reloading stuff already. I would guess that I would have to have the firing pin turned down and the hole bushed like on a bolt gun to fix the cratering problem. Maybe maybe not I'm not sure on that part.

What does everyone think? Maybe I should just bag that idea and order a GAP-10 in 6mm Creedmoor and leave the 6.5x47 in my bolt gun.

In a gas gun the Creedmoor cases are the best thing going. A GAP 10 in 6mm Creedmoor is a awesome little round that screams. For purposes such as competition and hunting of medium to small game I think it a wonderful thing. But if you are wanting to shoot larger prey I think the 6.5 Creedmoor is where I would be looking, the heavier bullets are better for that purpose.

Casey Simpson built one with positive results. He did have some firing pin issues like you mentioned. I was considering building one myself. Just one more thing I need to get around to.

I would look at 6.5 creedmoor you still get the ballistics of the 6.5 in a cartridge that was designed to feed reliably in an AR. I love mine it feeds well and shoots great.

Yup. I did, and the rifle functioned flawlessly. If you try and load them hot, the firing pin hole is a problem but its too big anyway to start with unless the bolt is an Armalite or other brand with hole size of .065-+. Most of them are .078". Then the pin must be turned a particular way to the tip breaks off. Turn it so it retains the original profile. Long and skinny will break. Avoid all that by simply loading reasonably charged ammunition with CCI #41 primers and an adjustable gas block and gas port moved forward on the barrel two to three inches. Then, the gun will graze peacefully on moderate and accurate ammunition, i.e.; 123 Scenar, 37.5 grains Varget/RL-15.

However, the 6 Creedmore outperforms 6.5x47. Just get that and George will have the headache of making it run instead of you, meaning, they already run. No sense in re-inventing the wheel. Apparently, George's shop insists on competent performance and they are successful.

When I build another it will be 6xc or Creed.

The 6mm chambering looks like it would make a good to great 600 yard F class rifle.
