6.5x47L / 123 Scenar / Varget = 3100 fps ?

I just got back from testing a new load at 300 yards for my rifle. Anyone else getting this velocity with the 123 Lapua Scenars out of a 6.5x47L?

25.125" Krieger 5R
38.4 gr. Varget
New Lapua Brass
CCI BR-4
123 Scenar seated at the lands
3 shots = .850" @ 300 yards (.270 MOA)
2.75 minutes up from 100 yard zero (according to shooter 3100 fps)

No pressure signs at all!

Alt: 1016
Temp: 39.2F
Baro: 30.20
Humid: 80%
Wind: 0 Mph.

I know a guy who gets 3150 with the 123 scenar, 43gr of N550.
Far from the norm though.

What brand barrel?

I have a 25 inch Krieger on my 6.5 X 47 and with 38.1 gr Varget, CCI BR4 primer and 130 VLD im getting 2825-2850 according to my chrono depending on temps. Just to give you another example of a 25 inch barrel with Varget and similar bullet weight compared to what you're shooting.

Sounds way too fast. That is a reasonable amount of Varget - certainly nothing too hot. If you are using come-ups to determine MV, you really need to do it at longer range.

Also, have you verified tracking on scope? And what BC are you using on the 123gr Scenar (which is a great bullet, by the way)?

Tracking on the scope - Checked = OK

Going to try shooting them out to 600, 700, 800, 900 & 1000 yards tomorrow. (weather permitting)

Using .265 G7 BC.

Another reference, perhaps very indirect if not useless:

26" 1:8 260 Remington
39.3gr Varget in Lapua brass with 123gr A-max: 2930fps

If you ever get a chance to stretch out the rifle, let me know what you end up dialing. I don't have a chronometer, but I am interested to see what velocity my gun is running at as well.

At a 600 yard target, I dialed up 11.5 MOA using:

-123 amax
-37.6 varget
-federal match primers
-2.725 OAL
-28 inch broughton barrel
-60 degree temp
