I am considering building a 6.5x55 for hunting. I have read that this caliber is very accurate, light recoiling and can be used as an all purpose caliber for hunting. Would it be sort of like a European 30.06 ? I have a 30.06 presently. I was contemplating building a 6.5x55 from a old Remington 30.06 action. I would like to but a Hart #4 fluted barrel, in a McMillian edge stock. Do ya all think this would be an improvement over a 30.06? Would a 8 twist barrel in 22-24 length be optimum? Well share your thoughts, I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance
