Congrats on acquiring such a fine rifle. You never said what you plan to do with it, but the fact that you are on this forum tells me you are interested in precision accuracy at normal to longer ranges. You may or may not want to hunt. The MPR is one of those rifles that can do both. I am jealous. I have found that 3-12x scopes are fantastic for hunting applications and adequate for precision shooting. However, if you want to do high grade, tiny groups while shooting prone of from benches, or other solid rests, I think you will soon realize that one of the big limiting factors will turn out to be the optics and its lack of magnification.
A 6-24x scope is in my opinion the minimum for a tactical 22 trainer/practice rifle. And higher power for benchrest shooting. I have a 3-12x on my 17hmr and love it for hunting and casual plinking, but it is not good enough for serious precision work. I shot our six tgt challenge with it at 100yds and while it scored ok, it could have done better if I had been able to see the tgts clearer. I have a 6-24x on one of my tactical 22's and it is much easier to shoot little groups with that. It is still able to be adjusted down enough to make it a great squirrel rifle. My tgt rig has a fixed power 36x Sightron on it and this is a great scope for BR and precision tgt shooting but is terrible for both tactical and hunting. In fact it is useless for hunting and nearly useless for tactical due to the very small field of view and the narrow focus, and slow to adjust focus. Every tool has its purpose. Have fun with it.
Post us some pics and tgts when you get this new rig up and running, and let us know if you need any help sourcing test ammo. For precise tgt work I would suggest: Eley Black, Eley Edge, Wolf Match Tgt, Lapua Center-X, and R50 as good places to start. These have all shot well in my rifles and the Wolf Match Tgt is much better than its price might suggest. All of them are cheaper than Midas+, Lapua X-Act, and Eley 10x which can offer a further improvement in accuracy for a price. My Winchester prefers the Eley products but my Remington is slightly better with the Lapua stuff. Who knows if you are lucky the Anschutz will like the CCI or Winchester ammo best.
