Just finished my 6.5-06AI and ready to start another project.
How about a 6mm-300wsm.
I love my 270wsm and I think the 6mm could be bad ass. Plus I think I can use the 270wsm bushing die and neck it down without having to buy custom dies. Anybody got any experience with this cartridge.

Re: 6mm-300wsm

I built its bigger brother, 6.5 WSM and it shot great until about 500 rounds and accuracy went south. If you can afford barrels at that rate it was a great round.

How do you like that 6.5-06 AI? I can't wait to get going on my striaght 6.5-06. Too much work, not enough play time...

On the topic though, I am not entirely sure what the 6mm/270 WSM is really going to buy you over something like the 6mm Crusader or a 6mm Rem AI.

It's so incredibly overbore that you're going to burn barrels out like crazy, as was mentioned. I'd expect you will see about the same kind of velocities that the 6mm AI would get you since the powder capacity is in the same ballpark. The 115 DTACs going 3400 fps from the AI are incredibly flat. You will get to a point of diminishing returns, you need a minimum twist rate to stabilize those heavy 6's, and as the speed increases you're going to start getting above the point where the bullet can hold itself together.

You might actually be able to get the 105+gr 6mm's going fast enough to stabilize them in a 1:10 or 1:11 barrel though, so they might survive at those twist rates.
