I am going to assemble a 6mm GT precision rifle. I am thinking of using a Douglas barrel on a Remington 700 action with a MDT chassis. Is this the best way to go. For instance is the barrel choice right; who are the top tier barrel makers.

Unless you have that Remington action already, take a look at either the Zermatt Origin, ARC CDG, or Aero Solus.

Douglas makes good stuff, but my money on my last half-dozen barrels have all gone to cut rifled manufacturers (3 Krieger, 2 Bartlein, and a Brux).

MDT has a big following for a reason.

Thank You for that information I will look at those actions I am just getting started with the long range.
I have a Savage elite 338 Lapua which is awesome. I had it out the other day for the first time. At 100yds I was putting three bullets in one large hole about 1/2" across. I want to get the a 6mmGT first because it has great technicals but it is a lot cheaper to put 100 rounds down range. The muzzle break, I have on it, actually makes it more of a pleasure to shoot than by bench rest 308.

I know you mentioned build, but if you're interested in buying a barreled action I listed one yesterday. Its built off a defiance rukus, 26" proof comp contour with an area 419 match break

I had it in an MDT and it shot great.

Either way can't go wrong. Im a fan of the 6gt. I would build off a better action though. So many good options out there

Recently had a 1:7 26" bartlein #9 heavy varmint barrel spun up for a rifle, with 110gr Atip' and alpha brass, the worst group it's ever shot is around 1/2 MOA. It just shoots lights out and runs really well from AW mags. An excellent caliber.

Like some other have said, if you're building a rifle, spend a bit more and get a custom action... You'll appreciate that choice down the track, and also immediately.

Moving along with the above I am looking for a gunsmith to assemble a 6MM GT using a barrel an MDT chassis and an action to be determined; a Remington 700 would be OK but there are others out there better but availability is almost the deciding factor. Perhaps someone can recommend a Gunsmith or a Gunsmith might respond to this thread.
    Otherwise have a good day.

I did not see the one you had for sale but if you are putting them together A Bartlein with an MDT chassis a good action does not have to be Remington what are we talking about price range. I would want to put the ATACR F1 MOA scope when my wallet recovers
